Netherlands: Verpact (Afvalfonds Verpakkingen) declarations
Verpact takes weight-based packaging declarations through the PackTool. Recyclability in the Netherlands is assessed against the KIDV methodology, which is tied to the Verpact scheme and is distinct from the German, French and UK assessments.
What you must do
- Declare through the PackTool, on a weight basis, using the Verpact material categories.
- Hold component weights accurately, because the declaration is weight-based rather than unit or band based, so weight error translates directly into declaration error.
- Assess recyclability against the KIDV methodology where the Dutch position is relevant.
What data you need

Common mistakes
- Declaring estimated component weights. In a weight-based scheme the estimate is the declaration, so a rounded or inherited weight is a misdeclaration rather than an approximation.
- Carrying a material mapping across from another market. Verpact categories are its own.
- Treating a KIDV result as a general recyclability position. It is tied to the Dutch scheme and does not substitute for ZSVR, COTREP or RAM.
- Keeping Dutch weights separate from the master component records, so a corrected weight improves one declaration and not the others.
